As wild turkey populations increase across North America, it's important to look toward the future of wild turkey management to ensure North America's largest game bird for generations to come. Enter the North American Wild Turkey Management Plan. The NAWTMP addresses wild turkeys on international, national, regional and local levels.
Bird Conservation Regions
Wild turkeys play an important ecological role in 34 of the 67 Bird Conservation Regions across North America. Bird Conservation Regions are ecologically distinct regions of North America containing similar bird communities, habitats and resource management issues.
NWTF State/Provincial Strategic Plans
In conjunction with the Bird Conservation Region plans, the National Wild Turkey Federation’s state and provincial chapters are developing Strategic Plans that support each BCR’s conservation needs and actions. Each strategic plan outlines goals, strategies and needed contributions from NWTF chapters to reach the goals set forth by their respective BCRs.
