Education Programs

Anyone can visit the Wild Turkey Center, whether for a leisurely stroll through the Winchester Museum — the world's only museum dedicated to our favorite game bird — or for an action-packed field trip. And if you're lucky enough to catch a chaotic chorus of screeching whistles, you're witnessing the creation of future conservationists. Read more about the Wild Turkey Center or plan your visit.

Field Trip Programs

Each year, the halls of the Wild Turkey Center come alive with squeaks, squawks and imaginative attempts at yelps. But it's not our staff preparing for turkey season; it's visitors flocking to the Wild Turkey Center, learning more about the famed, feathered holiday table centerpiece through hands-on educational experiences.

Our field trip programs are for the young and the young at heart. Visitors of all ages leave our facility with a better understanding of the conservation success story that surrounds the wild turkey, and the role hunting has played in that success.

Wild About Turkey Education Box

The NWTF developed one-of-a-kind Wild About Turkey Education Boxes to teach youth about one of the greatest conservation success stories of all time — the comeback of the wild turkey. The box, a scaled replica of an actual wild turkey transport box, is full of activities and educational tools correlated to national education standards for kindergarten through 12th grade.
