On Saturday, August 25, 2012, twelve (12) volunteers and eight (8) Bureau of Land Management (BLM) employees participated in a Volunteer Day to enhance the Crawford, Colorado population of Gunnison sage-grouse. The work involved installing raptor perch deterrents and wire fence reflectors to decrease mortality at four (4) fenced (wet meadow) habitat improvement sites. The North Fork Chapter-NWTF Chairman, Slim Farnsworth and two brothers and JAKES members, Cole Stumpf (13) and Nathan Stumpf (12) also participated in the Volunteer Day and enjoyed working for conservation.
