Green Mountain National Forest

The focal area for this project is the Eastern New York/Western New England area. The project estimate was $76,000 with no NWTF monetary contribution.

American woodcock and ruffed grouse need active forest management to thrive, and this is happening in the Addison and Rutland counties of Vermont’s Green Mountain National Forest · Ideal management is accomplished through burning and mowing · USDA Forest Service and the NWTF are working together on the Finger Lakes/Green Mountain National Forests in New York and Vermont · Past and future habitat treatments planned on 60 acres · New five-year partnership agreement will bring more funding for future habitat management · Wild turkeys, deer, bear and moose are among other wild animals benefitting
