Cost estimate of completed project: $20,660; NWTF contribution: $5,165

Overview: The NWTF and Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries annually identify needed habitat improvement projects on state Wildlife Management Areas. Using Pittman-Robertson Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration funding, NWTF Superfund dollars are matched 3-to-1, enabling 797 acres of prescribed burning from Jan. 13 to March 13, 2018 on the WMA.

  • Use bulldozers to create firebreaks and water bar barriers along roadways to divert water and reduce erosion
