2010 Dream Hunt Conservation Project Winner
Congratulations to 13-year-old Cason Berg of Soda Springs, Idaho − the grand prize winner of the 2010 Dream Hunt Conservation Project!
Cason won an all-expenses-paid, chaperoned hunting trip to Namibia, Africa. The trip, valued at $23,000, is sponsored by Flies and Fletching, Outdoor Pursuits World Wide and Ekuja Hunting Safaris.
Participants had to complete an approved conservation project that shows impressive land and natural resource stewardship.
For more information on Cason's project:
Haley Pierce of Greenville, Ill., was first runner-up for her habitat improvement project that controlled and removed invasive plant species in mature hardwood forests. She cleared half an acre of land, treated invasive species and plans to maintain the clearing to benefit wildlife. Haley learned to operate equipment and use chemicals safely. She also acquired new life skills such as learning to utilize resources like the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and communicating effectively with others.
Jackson White of Cape Girardeau, Mo., was the third place winner for his wildlife refuge project. Jackson used lots of different resources to plan and sustain his project, including professionals from the Missouri Department of Conservation, Natural Resource Conservation Service, NWTF, local farmers, excavators and agricultural experts. He concluded his project with a field day where he invited those who assisted him with the project, classmates, families and friends to see the results.
Haley and Jackson received hunting prize packages from the NWTF, Flies and Fletching and Outdoor Pursuits Worldwide that included new compound bows, apparel, boots and more.
The NWTF salutes all participants in the Dream Hunt Conservation Project, and would like to thank everyone who submitted an entry.
