Broughton Talks Turkey in Canton
CANTON, S.D.--Fourth graders in Canton, S.D., have turkey on their mind thanks to a a visit from Craig Broughton of the Newton Hills Longbeards Chapter.
This is Broughton's third year presenting the Wild About Turkey education box to Canton fourth grade teachers. Along with the education box, Broughton also brings a mounted Eastern gobbler and allows students to see the characteristics of a wild turkey. This year Broughton spoke to three fourth grade classes, totaling more than 70 students. Each session lasts 45 minutes, with the most time allowed for students' questions. Broughton believes the seminars bring awareness to future NWTF members and he plans to continue his sessions.
