Alberta NWTF Hunting Heritage Super Fund Projects
Administered jointly by the NWTF, its provincial chapters and wildlife agencies, the Hunting Heritage Super Fund is used for projects that support the conservation of the wild turkey and preservation of the hunting tradition. Across North America, NWTF chapters and cooperating partners have raised and spent more than $306 million for wild turkey conservation. Since 1985 over $6,662 Canadian dollars has been raised and spent by Ontario chapters on projects within the province. A sampling of these projects is provided below.
Education
- Spent $117 on educational programs and literature including scholarships, education boxes and teacher workshops.
- Donated 3 education boxes to area schools
- Spent $540 on educational projects for volunteer and professionals including:
- volunteer leadership workshops
- Wild Turkey Woodlands field days
- State Web sites and newsletters
Management
Spent $641 on wild turkey management.
- completion of population survey in regions currently open to hunting
Restoration
- Spent $4,863 to trap and transfer turkeys within the province.
- Expenses include the purchase of trapping equipment such as nets, rockets and rocket charges
Other
Spent $500 on other projects including organizational dues, travel expenses to professional meetings, special NWTF projects and chapter rebates.
