British Columbia NWTF Hunting Heritage Super Fund Projects
Administered jointly by the NWTF, its provincial chapters and wildlife agencies, the Hunting Heritage Super Fund is used for projects that support the conservation of the wild turkey and preservation of the hunting tradition. Across North America, NWTF chapters and cooperating partners have raised and spent more than $306 million for wild turkey conservation. Since 1985 over $15,516 Canadian dollars has been raised and spent by Ontario chapters on projects within the province. A sampling of these projects is provided below.
Education
- Spent $1,923 on educational programs and literature including scholarships, education boxes and teacher workshops.
- Donated 3 education boxes to area schools
- Spent $2,500 on educational projects for volunteers and professionals including:
- volunteer leadership workshops
- Wild Turkey Woodlands field days
- Province Web sites and newsletters
JAKES
Spent $4,194 to introduce youth to outdoor activities, conservation and hunting. Sponsored 7 JAKES Conservation Field Days throughout the province.
Hunter Safety
Spent $1,400 to support hunter safety classes and initiatives within the state. Purchased hunter safety materials and equipment, including interactive shooting systems.
Management
Spent $5,000 on wild turkey management.
