Across the country, NWTF chapters have embraced the scholarship program and we have now awarded over one million dollars to high school seniors since 1999. Graduating high school seniors who exhibit exceptional performance in all aspects of school, community and outdoor involvement are eligible. Each recipient also must show a vested interest in preserving the hunting heritage and dedication to conservation. Local chapter scholarships are a minimum of $250, state/provincial scholarships are a minimum of $1,000 and the national scholarship winner will receive $10,000.

Selection Process
The selection process for local, state and national scholarships is as follows: Local chapters awarding scholarships need to have complete scholarship criteria and application information to schools by mid-September. Students, in turn, need to have their materials to local chapter officers by Jan. 1st. Local chapters will award scholarships by Jan. 15th and forward winners to the state chapter president by Feb. 1st. By Feb. 15th, state officers will award state scholarships and by March 1st, forward state winners to NWTF national headquarters, where the NWTF selection committee will select the national winner by March 15th.

If your local chapter is unable to pick a recipient for a local scholarship winner until later in the spring, your chapter can still award scholarships past the deadlines. Nonetheless, local scholarship winners chosen after the deadlines will qualify for neither the state nor national award.
