Crow Caws
What is it about a crow's caw that makes a turkey gobble? That is a common question we get here at JAKES Magazine. If you've spent any time in the woods or hunting on a field and been nearly deafened by a murder (group) of crows, then you know how annoying they can be.

Well, turkeys get annoyed by them, too. Plus, during the spring mating season, gobblers are very high-strung. Any loud noise could set them to gobbling, even a cow, a train or a slamming car door. That's why using a crow call during turkey season is a good way to locate gobblers.

Sometimes the simple "Caw, Caw, Caw" series is good enough to make a turkey gobble, sometimes, though, you have to mix in a little gargling and groaning on the call to annoy them. Crow calls are made of all types of things, ranging from exotic woods to plastic. They have a reed in them like a duck call that vibrates when air passes over it. They are cheap and easy tools for locating gobblers.
