NWTF At-A-Glance: NWTF 5-Star Program
The NWTF's state and local chapters are committed to supporting the organization's mission. Through the Five-Star Program they are recognized for giving something back to the volunteers and their communities, involving families in wildlife conservation, protecting the privilege to hunt, developing a stronger relationship between the state and local chapters and building
a better future.
A chapter that receives five-star designation has met the following criteria:
- Secured the future of hunting by contributing to:
- The Hunting Heritage Fund
- The U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance
- National Shooting Sports Foundation
- Shared the excitement of the outdoors by supporting NWTF outreach program events (Women in the Outdoors®, Wheelin' Sportsmen NWTF® and/or JAKES®/Xtreme JAKES).
- Made a commitment to the future of our youth through the JAKES®/Xtreme JAKES Program by:
- Involving young people in outdoor learning by funding local chapter JAKES®/Xtreme JAKES events.
- Introducing the outdoors into the classroom by providing a minimum of one JAKESŪ Education Box for each local chapter to distribute to area schools.
- Invested in youth with a commitment to a high school scholarship program by:
- Providing funding to each NWTF local chapter for scholarships.
- Offering $1,000 state/provincial academic scholarships for students demonstrating a commitment to conservation.
- Selecting a state/provincial winner to be considered for the $10,000 national scholarship.
- Chapter volunteers agree to participate in one of the following:
- 4-H Shooting Sports Program
- Local FFA Program
- Boy Scouts of America
- Girls Scouts of America
- Other community based outreach programs
