EDGEFIELD, S.C.— Anyone who watches outdoor television star Michael Waddell knows that he likes to have fun and that's exactly what he and everyone else are in for at the National Wild Turkey Federation's (NWTF) Edgefield Chapter banquet on Nov. 19, in Edgefield, S.C.

NWTF National Spokesperson, Michael Waddell, will be at the 2009 Edgefield Chapter banquet on Nov. 19.

Doors open at 6 p.m. at the Old Kendall Mill, located at 560 Norris St., and the event will feature door prizes, raffles, both a live and silent auction, catered barbecue and photo opportunities with Waddell. The family event will also have a kids zone with video games and more.

Since the event's theme is "Wild West Night," attendees are encouraged to wear their boots, spurs and cowboy hats. Tickets are $50 for adults, $80 for couples, $20 for youth ages 6 to 17, and kids 5 and under are free. Tickets include dinner, entry into all door prize drawings, an NWTF membership and a one-year subscription to Turkey Country magazine. Attendees that purchase tickets by Nov. 6, will automatically be entered into the "Early Bird" drawing for a Ruger 10/22 semi-automatic .22 caliber rifle.

As NWTF National Spokesperson, and host of Realtree Roadtrips and Bone Collector television shows, Waddell travels the country proclaiming his love for the outdoors and his support of the NWTF.

"There aren't a whole lot of events that could get me out of the woods during hunting season, but the NWTF's Edgefield banquet is one of them," said Waddell. "I tell people around the country about all the great work the Federation does for wildlife and hunters and anytime I get the chance, I like to stop by and help out however I can."

In Edgefield, the NWTF has remained active in the community by hosting local events, donating to local causes, awarding scholarships to local students and more.

The NWTF recently hosted several dove hunts for local youth, women, disabled hunters and military veterans. Through the Federation's Turkey Hunters Care program, 1,300 frozen turkeys have been donated to food banks, social service and civic organizations, and other groups. The Edgefield Chapter also has given a total of $5,000 in scholarships to local high school seniors who show commitment to conservation and high-level academic achievement.

Funding for these events and donations would not be possible without the Federation's dedicated volunteers and successful local fundraising banquets like the one upcoming in Edgefield.

Founded in 1973, the NWTF is dedicated to the conservation of the wild turkey and the preservation of the hunting heritage. The NWTF has thousands of local chapters in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
