Ohio landowners: Receive free land consultation from biologists

Ohio landowners in eastern and southeastern Ohio can receive a free, onsite consultation and habitat plan from a wildlife biologist.

NWTF staff can assist with developing conservation plans and provide guidance with the habitat work. Participants in this project do not have to be NWTF members.

The Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program also provides financial assistance to eligible private landowners for creating high-priority woodland and upland habitat.

Through this voluntary opportunity, landowners can apply for funding to complete projects that will help wild turkeys, deer, grassland and shrubland birds, and other wildlife. Projects may include planting native grasses, improving forestland, planting shrubs to establish cover for wildlife and developing wetlands.

NWTF's regional biologists will assist with this program through a cooperative agreement between the U.S. Department of Agriculture - Natural Resources Conservation Service, NWTF's Ohio State Chapter and the Ohio Division of Fish and Wildlife.

Landowners in southeastern Ohio who are interested in this cost-share opportunity should contact Randy Showalter, NWTF senior regional biologist, at (260) 982-7935 or rshowalter@nwtf.net.

Landowners in eastern Ohio should contact Kent Adams, NWTF senior regional biologist, at (217) 690-4950 or kadamsrb@nwtf.net.

For more information about the NWTF, call (800) THE-NWTF, visit www.nwtf.org or go to www.facebook.com/theNWTF.
