Wheelin' Sportsmen hunters harvest and learn at Texas meeting
Five hunters from five states harvested eight gobblers at an NWTF Wheelin' Sportsmen national turkey hunt and leadership meeting March 31-April 2 at the 2,000-acre Comanche Creek Ranch in Quanah, Texas.
With NWTF volunteers from as far away as Illinois and Maine, 13 states were represented at the gathering hosted by Mike Poe, Tom Horton and the NWTF Texas State Chapter. The event also provided an opportunity for Wheelin' Sportsmen leaders from throughout the country to share tips, tricks and stories to aid further growth of the program.
Three of the hunters harvested their first-ever wild turkeys.
NWTF Illinois State Chapter President Mike Lowder, Illinois board member Patrick Morse and Troy Fields of Maine served as guides. Dale Pearson and Rich Coles filmed the hunt for rockymountainathlete.com and a television show sponsored by Sportsman's Warehouse.
