New England Hunters Enjoy Excellent Chance to Harvest a Turkey
What states will have the best wild turkey hunting this spring?
The recent issue of Turkey Country magazine provides a comprehensive, state-by-state forecast and analysis.
But in case, you didn't have the time or the comprehensive ability to ingest all that great information, here are a few fun facts in the report:
- New England hunters enjoy tremendous harvest success. Forty percent of hunters in Maine are expected to harvest a turkey. Vermont (30 percent) and New Hampshire (20 percent) provide great opportunities.
- Massachusetts has a 3.1 ration of gobblers to hens
- Expect a comeback season throughout the Midwest. There should be better-than-average turkey hunting throughout the region, especially in parts of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska and Ohio.
