PUBLIC NOTICE OF WILDLIFE RESTORATION GRANT PROJECT AND ADOPTION OF ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT FOR THE NWTF HUNTING HERITAGE CENTER AND THE PALMETTO SHOOTING COMPLEX AT THE NWTF IN EDGEFIELD COUNTY, S.C.
The National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) propose to build a public shooting range complex on property owned by the NWTF in Edgefield County.
We give notice that the Environmental Assessment (EA) Report No. 140130 for the NWTF Hunting Heritage Center and The Palmetto Shooting Complex at the NWTF in Edgefield County, S.C., is available for public viewing.
The complex will include sporting clays courses, combination trap and skeet ranges, a rifle and pistol range and a covered pavilion with associated roads and parking. Map coordinates for the proposed complex are Lat. 33°45'5.59"North and Long. 81°55'23.24"West°.
Construction will be in accordance with the National Rifle Association guidelines and local governing regulations.
The project will be partially funded via federal grant from the Wildlife Restoration Program. If approved, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will award the grant to the SCDNR.
SynTerra Corporation prepared the EA for the NWTF in January 2014, and the EA has been submitted to the SCDNR. The EA may be inspected at the NWTF's headquarters at 770 Augusta Road in Edgefield, S.C., or online.
