Awards Nominated by State Chapters
Wildlife Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award
Award Description: This award recognizes an outstanding state or federal wildlife law enforcement officer.
Nomination Process: Nominations are made by state chapter presidents. Chapters may nominate one person per year. For a list of candidate guidelines and nomination forms, click here. Contact Michelle Jones at mjones@nwtf.net with questions.

Educator of the Year Award
Award Description: This award recognizes an educator who demonstrated innovative teaching techniques using the Wild about Turkey Education Box and a commitment to teaching conservation education in the classroom.
Nomination Process: Teachers and chapter members nominate outstanding educators by completing an application, which is distributed through the education box. NWTF Education Committee reviews applications and selects a winner by August 1.
Entry Deadline: June 1
Selection Deadline: The award is presented at the school and/or an NWTF event during the month of September, to coincide with beginning of the school year. The first place award recipient is also recognized at the Annual NWTF Convention and Sport Show.

Five-Star Award
Award Description: The NWTF's most prestigious volunteer award is named for the military five-star rank, the highest rank of general, which is given infrequently by Congress to individuals of outstanding ability, achievement and leadership. The NWTF's Five-Star Award is not given every year. Only five outstanding volunteers have received it.
Nomination Process: NWTF's executive staff and national board provide a slate of candidates to consider.

Five-Star Business of the Year Award
Award Description: This award recognizes an outstanding business partner for supporting the NWTF.

Corporate Achievement Award
Award Description: This award recognizes a corporate partner that has promoted wild turkey conservation and hunting in outstanding ways.

C.B. McCleod Award
Award Description: This award recognizes an outstanding NWTF volunteer who has dedicated his or her life to wildlife, conservation and our hunting heritage. The award is given in honor of NWTF volunteer C.B. McLeod, a banker from Crestview, Fla., who was instrumental in keeping the NWTF moving forward during its formative years.

Communicator of the Year Award
Award Description: This award recognizes an exceptional communicator who promotes the conservation of the wild turkey, and the NWTF's role in conserving the wild turkey and preserving our hunting heritage.

Wild Turkey Bourbon Rare Breed Award
Award Description: This award recognizes an outstanding volunteer who can be characterized as an individual of integrity, loyalty and dedication for not only the NWTF, but also for conservation.

Lynn Boykin Hunting Heritage Award
Award Description: This award recognizes an individual who has made outstanding contributions in protecting our hunting heritage. The award is given in honor of Lynn Boykin, a former president and chairman of the NWTF's national board of directors who emphasized the importance of our hunting heritage.

Henry S. Mosby
Award Description: This award recognizes an outstanding biologist who has contributed to wild turkey management throughout his or her career or made a single significant effort.

Roger Latham Awards
Award Description: This award recognizes outstanding chapter volunteers who have given their personal time, energy and money to the conservation and management of the American wild turkey. The NWTF may give up to five awards a year.

Land Stewardship Awards
Award Description: This award recognizes an outstanding company, including individuals and projects within companies, and government agencies that promote wildlife habitat management.

Wild Turkey Woodlands Award
Award Description: This award recognizes a private landowner who does an outstanding job of managing their property for wildlife. This award provides recognition for a national winner as well as land stewards exhibiting outstanding performance in four categories.

Joe Kurz Wildlife Manager of the Year Award
Award Description: This award recognizes an outstanding wildlife manager.

NWTF/Wildlife Habitat Council Wild Turkey Management Award
Award Description: This award recognizes a Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) member company for excellence in wild turkey management on a corporate/industrial site.
Nomination Process: Applications for this award are submitted by the WHC company to WHC headquarters. The award recipient is selected jointly by WHC and NWTF. NWTF conservation staff presents a recommendation to the Conservation Programs Committee at the fall board meeting.
Entry Deadline: October 15
Selection Deadline: The award is presented at the WHC Annual Symposium.

Making Tracks with the Bureau of Land Management
Award Description: This award recognizes people and projects that best incorporate conservation education, partnerships and active wild turkey management into ecosystem management projects, have significant habitat improvement benefits for the wild turkey and help accomplish the NWTF's mission.
Nomination Process: The agency submits nominations to the national coordinator. The Conservation Programs Committee reviews candidates, and recommendations are submitted to a predetermined outside review panel. NWTF conservation staff presents a recommendation to the Awards Committee for final approval.

Making Tracks with the Forest Service
Award Description: This award recognizes people and projects that best incorporate conservation education, partnerships and active wild turkey management into ecosystem management projects and have significant habitat improvement benefits for the wild turkey and help accomplish the NWTF's mission.
Nomination Process: The agency submits nominations to national coordinator. Candidates are reviewed by the Conservation Programs Committee and a recommendations are submitted to a predetermined outside review panel. NWTF conservation staff presents a recommendation to the Awards Committee for final approval.

Energy for Wildlife Achievement Award
Award Description: This award recognizes a certified Energy for Wildlife Company for outstanding wildlife stewardship, partnership development and community involvement.

Conservation District Partner of the Year Award
Award Description: This award recognizes an outstanding Conservation District Partner that has joined with a local NWTF chapter(s) to increase public awareness of conservation and wildlife management issues, conduct wildlife habitat management on the ground and improve hunting opportunities.

Wayne Bailey Award(s)
Award Description: This award recognizes a wildlife biologist, trapper or wildlife manager -- someone who has devoted their career to the wild turkey and has had a major role in the restoration and management of the wild turkey. The NWTF may give up to two awards a year.
Nomination Process: The Conservation Programs Committee presents slate of candidates and a recommendation at the fall board meeting.
