EDGEFIELD, S.C. — The National Wild Turkey Federation and Kalkomey Enterprises, LLC have partnered to create the NWTF Turkey Hunting 101 course, the first-ever wild turkey hunting online tutorial, using the Today’s Hunter online platform. The NWTF Turkey Hunting 101 course is designed to teach future turkey hunters everything they need to safely and successfully hunt America’s greatest game bird – the wild turkey.
The NWTF Turkey Hunting 101 course by Today’s Hunter includes six chapters and dozens of topics covering the remarkable history of the wild turkey, the birds’ characteristics and behavior, wild turkey sounds, hunting preparation, gear and tactics, shot placement, cooking tips and recipes, plus much more. Topics are supported with text, photographs, graphics and videos from veteran turkey hunters in an engaging and educational format.
“We’ve developed a comprehensive education resource which will help equip novice and experienced turkey hunters for the season ahead,” said Mandy Harling, NWTF Hunting Heritage Programs director. “This effort is part of our work to preserve hunting heritage and to pass on our knowledge to create passionate turkey hunters for generations to come.”
Kalkomey Enterprises, LLC, parent company of Today’s Hunter, is the leading provider of state-approved online hunter safety training in North America, certifying hunter and bowhunter education students across the country.
“We're beyond grateful for the opportunity to partner with NWTF on this introduction to turkey hunting course,” said Mitch Strobl, Kalkomey VP of Agency Relations. “Through this partnership and course, we're able to deliver a reputable program that provides the 'next-step' information our students want.”

About the National Wild Turkey Federation
When the National Wild Turkey Federation was founded in 1973, there were about 1.3 million wild turkeys in North America. After decades of work, that number hit a historic high of almost 7 million turkeys. To succeed, the NWTF stood behind science-based conservation and hunters' rights. Today, the NWTF is focused on the future of hunting and conservation through its Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative – a charge that mobilizes science, fundraising and devoted volunteers to conserve or enhance more than 4 million acres of essential wildlife habitat, recruit at least 1.5 million hunters and open access to 500,000 acres for hunting.
