The NWTF contributed $140,000 towards a $1 million project total for the creation of three cooperative forester positions in the Black Hills–Pine Ridge focal landscape.

These NWTF foresters will perform an array of tasks; including reducing the risk of catastrophic wildfire and disease and insect infestation; planting mast-producing hardwoods, cottonwoods and willows; developing and hosting landowner workshops centered on healthy forests and promoting conservation programs to benefit Merriam’s wild turkeys, elk, mule deer, white-tailed deer and many other non-game species.
