Arkansas' Mentored Deer Hunt Yields Success

Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and three Baptist churches in Clinton, Arkansas, partnered with the NWTF to conduct an annual R3 deer hunt for new teen hunters. The hunt, named Hunt for Jesus, is a time of sharing the word of God with new hunters while providing a safe place to begin their future in the outdoors.

The hunt was a large success, with 125 mentors and guides and 60 volunteers helping steer the next generation of conservationists.

The R3 hunt was conducted on NWTF’s Central Arkansas Focal Landscape, an area still of great emphasis for enhancing wild turkey populations and habitat. The new generation of hunters that this R3 event helped foster will be the direct contributors to ensuring this landscape increasingly becomes one for the wild turkey.
