The NWTF partnered with the U.S. Forest Service to provide habitat enhancements on the Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky and Tennessee.
Work carrier out included mowing approximately 1,000 acres to reduce woody vegetation and prepare the landscape for future management. Lime was applied to 390 acres of open land habitat to prepare the ground for planting of vegetation to provide food and cover for wild turkeys.
Additionally, field surrounding a handicapped-accessible blind were renovated to help provide better hunting opportunities for mobile impaired hunters.
This project occurs in the NWTF's Tennessee River focal landscape and benefits wild turkey, deer, songbirds, reptiles and a variety of other non-game species.
The overall project estimate came in at more than $150,000 with the NWTF contributing $34,000.
