- Maintain and improve critical oak/hickory forests
- Establish a diverse age of trees across the forest’s Ironton District
- Reduce invasive species to promote oak and hickory regeneration
- Thin timber to improve acorn production, growth and health
- Improve nesting and brood habitat, and mast production for wild turkeys, white-tailed deer and a variety of forest songbirds
