DESCRIPTION: Thinned more than 770 acres of ponderosa pine on Nebraska Game and Parks Commission land to build resiliency against future wildfires • Effort protects remaining green islands of pines following catastrophic fires in 2006 and 2012 • NWTF secured Nebraska Environmental Trust grant to help ponderosa pine thinning effort • Targeted species include wild turkeys, mule deer, white-tailed deer and elk, but other at-risk species benefit from forest stand improvement project
