Description: More than 45,000 acres in and around the Osceola focal landscape within central Florida have been treated with prescribed fire and herbicide over the last two years, and another 20,000 acres are targets for fire and herbicide treatments this year • Fire assistance teams are helping public agencies and landowners conduct prescribed burning projects; aid helps increase the number of treated acres • Burning efforts help Florida upland game and nongame animals, including Bachman’s sparrows, gopher tortoises, deer and wild turkeys
