The 2024 Wheelin’ Sportsmen/Savannah River Site Ultimate Turkey Hunt will occur April 19-20 in Aiken, SC.

This hunt is a collaborative effort between the NWTF, Department of Energy and USDA Forest Service. The Aiken NWTF Chapter and the University of Georgia’s Savannah River Ecology Laboratory provide meals and facilities for the event.

The annual hunt held at the Savannah River Site holds a significant purpose by providing a unique turkey hunting opportunity specifically tailored for disabled sportsmen. The NWTF receives applications from across the country, with 15 hunters randomly selected to participate.

The hunt offers hunters a truly exceptional experience, allowing hunters to hunt property that receives no hunting pressure. The Savanah River Site, spanning 310 square miles (198,046 acres), is a Department of Energy site nestled in the Sandhills region of South Carolina. This vast area provides a remarkable backdrop for the hunt, where participants can immerse themselves in the natural beauty and abundant wildlife that flourishes within its boundaries.

All those who register must qualify and be current NWTF members in order to be considered. Deadline to apply is March 22, 2024.
