A PASSION FOR OUR PURSUITS

For the past decade, the company has invested an average of 10% of its annual earnings into support for conservation. “Conservation is at the heart and soul of Bass Pro Shops,” CEO and founder Johnny Morris said. “Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s share a steadfast belief that the future of our industry and the outdoor sports we love depends – more than anything else – on how we manage our natural resources. By combining our efforts, we can have a profound positive impact on the conservation challenges of our day and help foster the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts.”

FORGING A PARTNERSHIP FOR THE OUTDOOR LIFESTYLE

For decades of support and for taking its generosity to new heights in 2020, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s received the National Wild Turkey Federation’s Corporate Achievement Award. Bass Pro Shops founder and CEO Johnny Morris accepted the award during the NWTF’s 45th Convention and Sport Show held virtually in 2021. “The National Wild Turkey Federation is one of the most significant conservation leaders in the nation and one of our most important partners,” Morris said. “Together, we remain steadfast in our commitment to helping NWTF continue its efforts to protect habitat, wildlife and the outdoor traditions we love.”

“We’re trying to remind people, especially young people, that they should be proud of the role hunters and anglers played, and continue to play, in conservation,” Morris said. “That’s the main message there. Get people excited about critters and help them better understand the diverse habitats where these fish and animals live.”

JOHNNY MORRIS’ LEGACY

“I’d like to be known as a fellow who was very happy to spend his life fishing, to be surrounded by great family and extended family,” Morris said. “A lucky guy who was proud to come from the Ozarks and tried to give back as he was blessed to do so to help preserve opportunities in the outdoors for others to have.”

BASS PRO SHOPS AND CABELA’S OUTDOOR FUND

Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund continues to drive funding for conservation projects throughout the country. “We are incredibly proud to partner with our generous customers to support conservation,” Morris said. “The Outdoor Fund really shows how much sportsmen and women care about conservation. The generosity of sportsmen and women is tremendous and it has impacted conservation in every corner of North America.”
