“Being chosen for NWTF’s Government Partner Award is an incredible honor, and it makes me even more grateful for the mission-driven organizations I get to interact with every day as Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture,” Chairman Thompson said. "As someone who learned the importance of access to the great outdoors at a young age, I am proud to support NWTF’s conservation and hunting heritage mission, and I look forward to the great work we will continue to do in this space in the future.”

Congressman Thompson, representing Pennsylvania’s Fifteenth District in the U.S. House of Representatives, is currently the Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture. He has been on the committee since entering Congress in 2009, accumulating over 16 years of dedicated experience.

Thompson is the descendant of dairy farmers with a strong commitment to sustainable land stewardship. He has championed conservation efforts through the Farm Bill, advocating for robust funding and policies that promote active forest management and stewardship contracting, wildlife habitat enhancement, and improved water quality on public and private lands—aligning closely with the NWTF’s priorities.

His leadership was instrumental in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act of 2025 (H.R. 1), which provided $66 billion in new agricultural investments over 10 years, including significant funding for voluntary conservation programs such as the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) and secured funding for the Voluntary Public Access and Habitat Incentive Program (VPA-HIP) at a time when funding would have otherwise lapsed. His efforts ensured long-term support for habitat restoration, access and rural community vitality.

“We are thankful for Congressman Thompson, a fellow Pennsylvanian, for advocating for our nation’s natural resources,” NWTF co-CEO Kurt Dyroff said. “It is imperative that we have strong partnerships with congressional leaders like Chairman Thompson, who care about our nation’s natural treasures and who know the importance of active forest and habitat management on working lands. A major thank you to the chairman for being a facilitator of good for farmers, wildlife and natural resources as a key architect of multiple Farm Bills over the years through his leadership in the House Committee on Agriculture.”

The organization continues to deliver its mission by working across boundaries on a landscape scale to deliver healthy forests and wildlife habitats, clean and abundant water, resilient communities and robust recreational opportunities. With the help of its dedicated members, partners and staff, the NWTF continues to unite a nation through the life-changing power of the outdoors.
