Feast from the Field: Wild Turkey Sliders

There are no rules here, because at the end of the day, it’s not just about the sliders. It’s about the laughter, the messy hands, and the time spent together turning wild game into something everyone at the table can be proud of.

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine the ground turkey and seasonings.
  • Once mixed, make small, golf-ball-sized meatballs, smash them to form small slider-sized patties, about 2 to 2½ inches wide and slightly flattened.
  • You should end up with 8–12 patties, depending on size. (CHEF’S TIP: Let your patties sit in the fridge for an hour so they don’t fall apart while cooking)
  • Press a small thumbprint in the center of each patty so they cook evenly and don’t puff up.

Skillet Method

  • Heat a pan over medium heat with a little oil, bacon fat or butter.
  • Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side, or until browned and fully cooked through.

Grill Method

  • Preheat grill to medium heat.
  • Grill patties 4-5 minutes per side, or until internal temp reaches 165°F

Build Your Sliders

  • Add cheese during the last minute of cooking so it melts right over the patties.
  • Toast the buns if you want a little crunch, stack your patties, pile on your toppings and dig in. This is where it gets fun; be creative with your toppings.
  • One slider can be simple, the next one stacked high. There are no rules here, because at the end of the day, it’s not just about the sliders. It’s about the laughter, the messy hands, and the time spent together turning wild game into something everyone at the table can be proud of.
