Over the years I have tried a few different options. From housings that fit around the receiver of one of my old shot guns, vent rib mounts and the mount that fits between the receiver and the stock of a shot gun, I have probably tried them all.
And while there are options that have worked for individual guns, none of these options seemed to provide a universal mount option that I can transfer from gun to gun with ease or take off my gun easily in between spring and fall hunting seasons.
Those days are no more thanks to the Warne Shotgun Rib Reflex Mount. It is a simple design that I found quite effective last turkey season.
For starters, Warne’s mount uses a clamp system that fits vented ribs only that have a width of 6-10mm through a unique design that grips the sides of the vent rib by equally tightening the three screw heads on each side.
Other vent rib mounts I have used over the years require hardware that goes under the rail, and then it must be clamped down in place, making it tougher to consider moving the mount from gun to gun.
And, the most important feature of the Warne rib mount is that the footprint is compatible with most all reflex footprints, meaning an upgrade in sight doesn’t mean more money spent on another mount solution for your shotgun.
Simply rearrange the customizable pins to the placements for the holes that fit your reflex sight’s footprint, and then torque the set screws to the specs listed for each respective sight. This can be done before or after mounting the rib mount to the gun.
From Warne’s website, this particular mount works with the following sights and other red dots that also use the following footprints.
In addition to being easy to use and compatible with a variety of sights, the mount also keeps your sight low on the barrel, allowing for a more natural shouldering of your shotgun when hunting turkeys or other game.
And, at a price tag of around $60, it is not a bad investment.
Not a user of reflex sights? Warne has you covered with rib mounting options for your ACRO and Aimpoint T1 and T2 mounts.
