In today's world, technology plays a significant role in our daily lives, offering numerous benefits and conveniences. However, it's essential to recognize the importance of disconnecting from screens and spending quality time with loved ones outdoors.

The National Wild Turkey Federation proudly supports the National Day of Unplugging, taking place on Friday, March 1st. This nationwide initiative encourages individuals, especially youth, to step away from electronic devices and reconnect with nature.

As Americans, we are fortunate to have access to a wealth of outdoor recreation opportunities, thanks to our extensive public lands and waters. On this day, we encourage everyone to explore the abundant natural resources across the country. Whether it's fishing, boating, hiking or participating in open hunting seasons, there are countless ways to immerse oneself in nature and unplug from the digital world.

The National Day of Unplugging also presents an excellent opportunity to visit local game and fish agencies or USDA Forest Service offices for insights into recreational opportunities in your area, conservation efforts and ways to get involved.

“NWTF supports the advocation for unplugging from technology on March 1st,” said Mandy Harling, NWTF national director of Education and Outreach Programs. “We encourage individuals to reconnect with nature, maybe take someone new squirrel hunting or go for a hike and look for wildlife signs like tracks, droppings or other clues left behind by animals. By involving your family in these outdoor adventures, you can create lasting memories while rediscovering the restorative power of the outdoors.”

The NWTF is committed to fostering outdoor experiences and preserving our hunting heritage through a range of education and outreach programs. These initiatives, including JAKESWomen in the Outdoors,Wheelin’ Sportsmen ,Mentored Hunts, Field to Fork and Learn to Hunt Clinics, aim to engage individuals across the nation.

NWTF chapters throughout the U.S. provide local opportunities for people to get involved in outdoor activities through hands-on events and hunts. To discover an event near you, visit the NWTF events page.
