“National Hunting and Fishing Day is such a great opportunity to get outside and share the life-changing power of the outdoors with friends and family,” said Mandy Harling, NWTF national director of Education and Outreach Programs. “Our natural resources connect us all, and National Hunting and Fishing Day is a way to come together and celebrate that. Whether you’re casting a line, in the dove field or in a deer stand, this is a day to come together and share the outdoors with others.”
On the fourth Saturday of every September, NHFD brings awareness to the integral role of hunters and anglers and their contribution to conserving our nation’s natural resources. One of the main goals of NHFD is to recruit new hunters and anglers by encouraging participation in hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities designed to drive conservation. NWTF members and chapters across the country are inviting someone new to join them outdoors in honor of NHFD. Learn more.
Additionally, NHFD is providing individuals the opportunity to be eligible for a product giveaway for taking someone hunting, fishing, or to enjoy any other outdoor activity. Learn more.
NHFD lands on the final day of the NWTF’s Conservation Week, an annual event that, similarly, is designed to bring awareness and emphasis to the organization’s national conservation mission and the critical role hunters play in creating Healthy Habitats and Health Harvests.
Throughout the NWTF’s 2024 Conservation Week, the organization will publish content centered around specific themes. For 2024, themes include water, habitat diversity, fire, turkey reproduction and hunter advocacy. Each day, the NWTF will publish engaging content on its digital channels around these topics, such as landowner tips, videos, articles and more.
Like NHFD, the NWTF is challenging its members, volunteers, staff and partners to use its 2024 Conservation Week, Sept. 17-22, to help promote conservation efforts and educate others on the importance of hunting and conservation.
The NWTF is proud to have introduced over a million individuals to the joys of outdoor pursuits through its various Education and Outreach Programs.
