NWTF Welcomes Tennessee Governor to Kick Off 2024 Sport Show in Nashville

EDGEFIELD, S.C. — The National Wild Turkey Federation is pleased to announce that Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee will officially open the 2024 NWTF Sport Show Feb. 15 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville.

"I am honored to join the National Wild Turkey Federation at their Convention and Sport Show in Nashville,” Lee said. “Throughout NWTF's decades-long history, they have been an important partner to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. I thank them for their commitment to conservation and preserving hunting heritage."

The 48th annual Convention and Sport Show, set for Feb. 14-18, is a gathering of conservationists, outdoor enthusiasts and industry leaders who come together to celebrate conservation successes and discuss the future of wild turkey conservation. This year's event promises to be particularly exciting as attendees reflect on past achievements and look forward to the opportunities ahead.

"Backed with the support of leaders like Governor Lee, we are further empowered in our mission to conserve the wild turkey and preserve our hunting heritage.”  

The NWTF Convention and Sport Show, which features more than 500 exhibitors, is one of the largest consumer shows in the state and has been held in Nashville since 2009, bringing significant economic benefits to the area. In addition to celebrating a year of conservation successes, the NWTF’s national convention serves as a platform for showcasing the latest innovations in hunting gear, outdoor recreation and wildlife conservation efforts.

The NWTF is actively engaged in advancing wild turkey research in Tennessee, with a significant commitment to funding three ongoing research projects within the Volunteer State. These projects delve into crucial areas such as: insights into harvest and survival data that could potentially influence wild turkey population dynamics; egg fertilization and early embryo mortality in wild turkey eggs; and reproductive success factors, habitat utilization, disease ecology and more.
