Pattern Pros puts different turkey loads in one box for more efficient pattern testing.

Three marines/hunters put their heads together to solve an age-old turkey load patterning question: How do you find the best ammunition for your turkey shotgun?

Sure, you could buy several boxes of different types of turkey loads and test them out; five boxes of TSS (Tungsten Super Shot) would run you north of $250 today. Even lead and copper loads would cost nearly $150 for five boxes. So, Pattern Pros co-founders Ryan Burnett (Bellevue, Washington), Brody Hensley (Broken Arrow, Oklahoma) and Christian Santiago (Coleman, Alabama) decided to come up with a way to put five different loads into one box. Pattern Pros was born and is beginning to take off this spring after a successful waterfowl product launch in the fall.

“We don’t care what people shoot,” Burnett said. “All we want is for hunters to be able to find the most effective tool.”

It appears Pattern Pros is doing just that, with several different boxes of assorted turkey loads to choose from in 12- and 20-gauge and .410 bore. And the price? Less than the standard box of TSS, ranging from as low at $25 for all-lead loads up to $54.99 for all-TSS loads.

There are multiple brands to choose from like NWTF partners Federal, Winchester and Apex, as well as many others including Migra, Boss Tom, Remington, Browning, Hevi-Shot, Herter’s, Salt Creek, Fiocchi and more being added.

Pattern Pros has agreements with most companies and believes the brands will gain exposure, plus hunters may buy new loads from a different company or stick with the brand they’ve been shooting after testing different ammo. The company also offers a turkey patterning set that comes with six craft paper turkey targets that include a 1-inch center dot inside a turkey head silhouette surrounded by a 10-inch circle and information panel to note gun model, choke restriction, shotshell details and shooting percentage.
