Though spring is months away, our inner spirit knows what lies in store. As the calendar turns and winter begins to fade away, we start to lose focus of everything else. It’s as if we become something or someone else, like a switch has been flipped. Call it what you want, a disease, an obsession, an addiction, it doesn’t matter; we all have it.
It’s a passion that is buried deep in our soul – it ain’t coming out, and I’m thankful for that. Money is no object, time away from work is never enough, and the season is always too short. We drive thousands of miles; we walk hundreds more and sleep little during the spring wild turkey season.
Some of us have been hunting the wild turkey for years, some just starting – a vast group of men, women and children brought together by something bigger than ourselves. Everyday I am thankful for the creation of the wild turkey. But more importantly I am thankful for our Creator. God created the wild turkey to bring so many people together for a greater cause. Yes, the gobble consumes us, the pursuit is an unexplainable adrenaline overload. The memories with family and friends are priceless. But at the end of the day, it’s all about bringing millions together for a mission that impacts each of us. The wild turkey is responsible for friendships and relationships all over the world. A group of people who count on each other, who help each other, and who are there for each other in a time of need.
So, it is all of this that God has placed on my heart that inspired me to share “The Message.”
Today, and every day, I am thankful for the creation and the creator.
