EDGEFIELD, SC — The National Wild Turkey Federation proudly announces that experienced R3 (Recruitment, Retention, Reactivation) professional Jesse Warner has officially occupied the NWTF’s all-new Northeastern R3 Coordinator position. Warner previously served as a hunting and shooting R3 coordinator through a cooperatively funded position between the NWTF and the Arizona Game and Fish Department.

“For the past couple of years, I have had the opportunity to work alongside volunteers and staff in Arizona who share an infectious passion for R3,” Warner said. “Through partnerships and communication, the Arizona community has grown into the gold standard of R3, and I am excited to bring a portion of that passion back to my old stomping grounds in the Northeast. My goal for this new position is to help foster an already existent community of volunteers and potential partners through effective communication and information distribution of R3 science in order to help further the NWTF mission in the region and beyond.”

Warner will facilitate collaboration among agencies, non-governmental organizations, volunteers and industry partners and lead cooperative efforts, support and infrastructure for NWTF’s R3 work in all or portions of Connecticut, Delaware, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia and West Virginia.

“Like our conservation delivery, we are beginning to take a landscape-scale approach to our education and outreach work,” said Mandy Harling, NWTF national director of education and outreach. “We realize that areas across the country face specific R3 needs. This new framework allows us to drill down on the needs within specific regions and implement more honed-in strategies. We look forward to Jesse’s expertise enhancing relationships with partners and bridging the gap from non-hunter to lifelong license buyer.”

Warner stepping into the NWTF’s new Northeastern R3 role comes as R3 momentum builds in the region. The NWTF and partners are also rolling out Hunt for Good, a national ad campaign designed to increase social support for hunting, with the northeast being the initial rollout region for the campaign. Warner will act as a liaison to interested parties for the campaign and will work to build social support for hunting among the non-hunting community.

Moreover, the NWTF and its partners deliver robust programs in the region, from the Field to Fork events in Burlington, Vermont, to the award-winning JAKES Days in Maryland. One of Warner’s key focus areas will be working to bridge the gap from introductory program attendee to confident, self-sufficient hunter.
