Bolderton LookOut Ground Blind

There is something quite special about getting into a new pop-up blind — no wasp nests, no spider webs or any unknown odors. That was the unfamiliar feeling I got sitting in Bolderton’s new LookOut Ground Blind, and with its lightweight and easy-to-construct design, you can keep the blind feeling new by just throwing it on your shoulder or on your pack each time you head in and out of the woods.

Simplicity and efficacy are at the core of this pop-up blind’s design. Full disclosure: I used the blind on my grandad’s property where deer are managed, and I didn’t have to carry it far. However, since it’s only 20 pounds, it can be carried deep into public land with a pack, a chair and a rifle with no problems.

Right after popping the blind up, which seriously took under 30 seconds (before staking it) and was nearly soundless, I noticed my favorite feature instantly: the LookOut one-way mesh windows. These seven mesh windows are on the outer side of the blind, making the blind a completely seamless Mossy Oak Break-Up Country shell, but from the inside, you can see through them like the typical mesh layer found on other blinds. If it’s cold out, there are additional flaps behind the mesh, allowing for a solid seal if you’re trying to keep the heat in (which, in South Carolina’s September heatwave, I am not).

Another simple, yet great, feature is the high-vis orange detailing found on the inside, including the stake pouch and the elastic strings and latchings for the flaps, which makes it easier to set the blind to your liking in the predawn darkness.

The outer shell of the blind is comprised of the new Burley Shell 3D texture, making the blind more congruous with the woods you’re putting it in. Likewise, the subtle brush loops that run along the top and bottom of all four of the blind’s sides allows you to place native foliage in the loops, which make the blind blend in even further.

With an 80-inch center height and an 88-by-88-inch hub-to-hub layout, this blind is extremely roomy for one person and can fit an addition no problem, but I wouldn’t have more than that. There are two camo mesh pockets on each side for your phone, shells or whatever else you might want to access in a second.

From its zipper-free design and easy, quiet setup to the one-way mesh windows and overall breathable and light-weight design, I truly cannot find anything to critique this blind about without it sounding contrived. This is a great blind for a great price, and I will be using it for deer and wild pigs all season.
